The units are made from the latest materials so expect to see highly polished chrome or stainless steel. They are generally well crafted too and you can find some unusual shapes. Forget boring straight lines and see what different curves and shapes you can introduce to this room.
Contemporary Kitchen furniture

Italian kitchen furniture
A lot of people immediately think of Italian kitchen furniture when they think about modern kitchens. The Italians certainly know a lot about style and make beautiful pieces but if you are on a budget they may be outside your price range. Don’t despair. There are other makes available at lower prices that can still give you the contemporary kitchen design you want to achieve.
Color is important in any kitchen but in a contemporary design more emphasis is placed on the materials. You can expect to find marble or glass work tops or those crafted from granite or other stones. You will often find unusual shapes such as a semi circular hob or a round sink. The appliances will usually be very high quality and look designer. You are more likely to see a metal or a glass fronted fridge than wooden units. Everything matches from a design perspective. Unlike the traditional kitchen you would not expect to see a mix of mismatched pieces. This doesn’t mean that you cannot add wood to the mix. If you have a large room and want to buy a table and chair set, it makes sense to buy a wooden set. This will add an element of warmth to the room that a chrome or steel set may not achieve.
If contemporary kitchen furniture appeals to you, don’t ruin the look by choosing the wrong wall coverings and curtain drapes. Forget floral curtains and go for roman blinds. You may want to use wallpaper but painted walls usually suit stainless steel and chrome fittings best.
